News Release

[MARCH 27th, LOS ANGELES] Premiere athleisure wear brand, Lululemon, is set to debut a new women’s basketball wear line, specifically targeted towards high school and collegiate players. The release is a continuation of the brand’s “Power of Three” growth strategy, where the company focuses on three critical pillars, including product innovation, guest experience, and international expansion. The new basketball wear line is a part of the product innovation sector. The “Beyond the Hoop” line will feature two new “Keep it Cool” jerseys available in five colors, two “No Rebound” basketball shorts available in five colors, a “Relay” zip-up hoodie available in three colors, and one pair of “Across the Court” basketball sneakers.

The “Beyond the Hoop ” line is in partnership with the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation founded by Vanessa Bryant in commemoration of Kobe and Gianna Bryant. 15% of proceeds from the new launch will go to the foundation to help underserved girls in basketball.

In the week leading up to the “Beyond the Hoop” launch, Lululemon will be partnering with top collegiate basketball athletes and their respective teams. Included players will be Rori Harmon and the Texas Longhorns, Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers and Juju Watkins and the USC Trojans. The three teams will be debuting the “Beyond The Hoop” line in custom jerseys with their names and numbers. During their games, a basketball shooting contest will be held with female attendees of the games. Five winners will be selected from each game to win the entire Beyond the Hoop collection.

“We have been able to branch into clothing specifically for tennis, yoga, and running,” CEO Calvin McDonald states. “Through our latest launch of sneakers in the fall of 2023 and market research, we realized we have a huge untapped market of female basketball players, specifically in the high school and collegiate level, and now we have the opportunity to proudly cater to them.”

The “Beyond the Hoop” launch party will be held the night before the official release on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Some of the attendees scheduled to make appearances include Vanessa Bryant, singers Tyla and Victoria Monet, model Bella Hadid, and fitness influencers Massy Arias and Jeanette Jenkins.

The “Beyond the Hoop” Line will be available online and globally across Lululemon stores on Friday, April 5th, 2024.
